Empaneled Hospitals Directed to Establish Help Desks, Ensure Cashless Treatment Under PM‑RAHAT
Bhubaneswar: The State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) has instructed all empanelled hospitals under AB‑PMJAY–GJAY to strengthen patient support and compliance mechanisms.
Hospitals must set up 24×7 help desks near their main entrances, staffed by Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras (PMAMs), to assist beneficiaries with registration, treatment information, and grievance redressal.
Additionally, hospitals are required to integrate their HMIS with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) software by 31st August 2026, ensuring seamless access to digital medical records through ABHA IDs.
Non‑compliance could result in withheld incentives or de‑empanelment.
Under the PM‑RAHAT scheme, accident victims admitted within 24 hours are entitled to free emergency treatment for up to seven days, with cashless coverage up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
The scheme also extends free treatment to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) cardholders.
Billing for these cases will be processed through the Ayushman portal.
The directives were emphasised during a review meeting chaired by SHAS CEO Dr Brundha D., where senior officials briefed hospitals on compliance, digital integration, and patient‑centric service delivery.
