Five Arrested in Nischintakoili Gang-Rape Case, One Absconding

kataka: In a shocking incident under Nischintakoili police station limits, a woman was allegedly gang-raped late Tuesday night while travelling with her boyfriend from Bhubaneswar to Kendrapada.

The couple had stopped near Sukarapada village along the Kataka –Chandabali highway when six men surrounded their vehicle, smashed the windows, and assaulted the boyfriend.

The assailants forcibly took the woman to an abandoned house about two kilometres away, where she was sexually assaulted

Acting swiftly on the survivor’s complaint, police registered a case and launched a manhunt.

Five accused — Munib Khan (30), Sk Riyasat Ahammad (25), Md Ubuzar Gaffri (21), Sk Salman Ali (19), and Sajan Khan (27) — have been arrested.

One suspect remains absconding. A DSP‑rank officer is leading the investigation, with four police teams formed to track down the remaining accused.

Authorities are also probing whether the group was involved in other criminal activities.

The survivor is receiving medical and legal support, while police continue their search for the sixth suspect.
