Bhubaneswar Mayor Warns Dog Owners After Patiala Attack

Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das has issued a stern warning to dog owners following a recent pit bull attack on a couple in Patiala.

She emphasised that while keeping pets at home is permitted, owners must take full responsibility for their animals’ behaviour.

Das cautioned that legal action will be taken against owners if their pets cause harm or disrupt public life.

She also criticised the growing trend of allowing dogs to defecate in public spaces, which undermines the beautification efforts of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Highlighting safety concerns, the mayor urged pet owners to keep their dogs under control outdoors to prevent attacks or accidents.

“Pet ownership is a right, but it comes with the duty not to inconvenience or endanger others,” she said.
