Crore-Funded Health Projects in Koraput Remain Non-Functional

Despite crores of rupees being sanctioned for healthcare infrastructure in Koraput, several projects remain incomplete or non-functional.

Many centres have either not begun construction or lack basic amenities such as roads, water, electricity, and security, leaving them unusable.

In Kasandi Panchayat, a health centre built two years ago for nearly 20,000 residents is still locked.

Similarly, construction of Bilaput and Nandapur CHC has dragged on for years without completion.

Across the district, 170 sub-centres, 44 PHCs, 12 CHCs, and other major facilities face delays due to poor planning and lack of coordination among agencies.

The situation has left communities dependent on outdated centres, undermining the purpose of the government’s investment.

Recently, the Health Minister visited Koraput, reviewed the projects, and directed officials to expedite pending works.

However, residents remain sceptical until facilities are made operational.
