Maharashtra FDA Issues Notice to Bollywood Stars Over Vimal Pan Masala Ads

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued show‑cause notices to Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff for endorsing Vimal Elaichi, a brand allegedly linked to banned pan masala and tobacco products.

FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe confirmed that the notices were served under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The actors have been given 15 days to respond in writing, failing which legal action will be initiated.

Pan masala is completely prohibited in Maharashtra, and the FDA stressed that Vimal’s association with such products violates state regulations.

This move follows a statewide crackdown on food safety violations, during which licenses of several establishments were cancelled, including Pizza Hut in Karad, and multiple restaurants were ordered to shut down.

The action highlights growing scrutiny of celebrity endorsements, especially when linked to products banned for public health reasons.
