Vinaytosh Mishra Assumes Charge as Interim DGP of Odisha

Senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra has formally taken charge as the interim Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha, succeeding Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.

Mishra, a 1993‑batch Odisha‑cadre officer, was accorded a Guard of Honour at the police headquarters in Bhubaneswar before paying tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial.

With a distinguished career spanning district postings, leadership roles as ADG, DG of Fire Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, and most recently DG of the Crime Branch, Mishra is widely recognised for his work in tackling cybercrime and economic offences.

Outlining his priorities, Mishra emphasised women’s safety, a drug‑free Odisha, and stronger action against cybercrime and organised crime.

He also highlighted intensified operations during the ongoing flood situation and upcoming festive season.

After assuming office, Mishra visited Puri Srimandir, sought blessings of Lord Jagannath, and reviewed security arrangements with local police officials.

He will continue as interim DGP until a permanent appointment is made, while retaining charge of the Crime Branch.

His tenure is scheduled to conclude with retirement in November 2026.
