Bhubaneswar, April 20: Odisha is reeling under a severe heatwave, with Jharsuguda recording the highest temperature at 43.3°C. Close behind were Titilagarh (43°C), Sonepur (42.3°C), and several western districts including Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Sundargarh, and Rourkela, all crossing the 41°C mark.

In total, 14 cities breached 40°C, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a heatwave warning until April 23.\

Citizens have been urged to avoid outdoor exposure during peak hours, stay hydrated, and take extra precautions for children and the elderly.

The scorching conditions have disrupted daily routines, with schools and workplaces reporting reduced attendance.
