Odisha DGP Reviews Puja Season Security Preparedness
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra chaired a high‑level review meeting at the Commissionerate Police headquarters to assess law and order, festival security, and crime control measures ahead of the upcoming Puja season.
The meeting emphasised strict vigilance during the three‑month festive period, with directives for police deployment in sensitive areas, peace committee coordination, and rapid response readiness.
Key focus areas included enforcement of the NDPS Act, tackling organised crime, preventing cyber fraud, and strengthening investigations through the Cyber and Economic Offences Wing.
The DGP also highlighted modern policing practices such as forensic science integration, advanced fingerprint collection, e‑summons, e‑signatures, and mandatory use of body‑worn and dashboard cameras.
Senior officers, including ADG (Law & Order), Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar‑Cuttack), IGPs of EOW/STF, Intelligence, SCRB, Crime Branch, and DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, participated in the review.
The meeting concluded with directives to enhance transparency, improve grievance redressal, and ensure smooth festival management across Odisha.
