Cyclone Arnab Intensifies; Landfall Expected Along Andhra Coast Between 2 AM and 4 AM

Bhubaneswar, October 27: Cyclone Arnab has intensified rapidly over the Bay of Bengal and is now expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast between 2 AM and 4 AM, prompting authorities to step up preparedness measures in vulnerable coastal districts.

According to meteorological forecasts, the cyclone has strengthened significantly, with wind speeds increasing sharply as it moves towards the Andhra coastline.

The landfall is likely to occur near the Konaseema-Yanam region, south of Kakinada, bringing the threat of damaging winds, heavy rainfall, rough seas, and coastal inundation.

While Andhra Pradesh is expected to bear the brunt of the storm, southern Odisha districts may also experience adverse weather conditions.

Strong winds, heavy rain, and high sea waves are likely to affect coastal areas, particularly Ganjam and adjoining regions.

Disaster management agencies and local administrations have been placed on alert.

Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea, and residents in low-lying coastal areas have been urged to remain vigilant as the cyclone approaches landfall.

Weather experts indicate that after crossing the Andhra coast, Cyclone Arnab is expected to move northward across inland areas and gradually weaken into a depression by October 29.

However, heavy rainfall and gusty winds could continue to affect several regions even after landfall.

Authorities are closely monitoring the cyclone’s trajectory and have appealed to the public to follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm period.
