Cyclone Arnab Alert: Schools Closed Across Khordha as Administration Steps Up Preparedness
Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: In view of the looming threat posed by Cyclone Arnab, the Khordha district administration has ordered the closure of all government, government-aided and private schools across the district as a precautionary measure.
The directive applies to students from Nursery (Shishu Vatika) to Class XII.
According to the order issued by Amrit Ruturaj, Collector and District Magistrate of Khordha, schools will remain closed from 1 PM on October 27 and throughout October 28 to ensure the safety of students amid forecasts of adverse weather conditions.
While classroom activities have been suspended, school authorities, including headmasters, principals, teachers and other staff members, have been directed to remain on duty.
Educational institutions have been instructed to keep their premises ready for use as cyclone shelters if required during the emergency.
The administration has also directed schools to maintain round-the-clock staff rosters to support emergency operations and provide assistance whenever needed.
As part of broader disaster preparedness measures, leave for all government employees in the district has been cancelled until October 31.
Officials have been asked to remain available for emergency response, relief and rehabilitation activities.
The district administration has urged residents to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and cooperate with authorities as precautionary measures intensify ahead of the cyclone’s expected impact.
