Odisha Disburses First Instalment Under Gyanodaya Free Education Scheme
Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department of Odisha has released ₹9.56 crore as the first instalment under the Gyanodaya – Shiksha ru Samriddhi scheme, marking a significant step toward free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level.
The funds, constituting 10% of the total allocation for 2026–27, have been disbursed to eligible colleges following Phase‑1 undergraduate admissions through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS).
A second instalment of ₹14.34 crore (15%) is scheduled for release after institutional compliance checks.
The scheme aims to eliminate financial barriers, ensure inclusive and equitable education, and streamline fund flow directly to institutions via SAMS.
With this initiative, colleges can now support non‑fee‑paying students without delays, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to accessible quality learning.
