Odisha to Introduce Financial Literacy in 736 PM SHRI Schools

The School and Mass Education Department of Odisha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Panchasakha Shiksha Setu Sangathan (PSSS) and the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE) to integrate financial literacy education into 736 PM SHRI schools across all 30 districts of the state.

The programme, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, will target students from Classes 6 to 10.

It will cover essential topics such as money management, savings, budgeting, banking, investment, taxation, and entrepreneurship.

Teachers will undergo specialised training to deliver the curriculum effectively, and participating schools will be certified as “Money Smart Schools” by NCFE.

The initiative aims to nurture financially responsible citizens and strengthen Odisha’s commitment to quality education and life skills development.
