Odisha Shines at NITI Aayog 2026: Growth, Fiscal Strength, and Human Development Roadmap
Odisha has emerged as a frontrunner in India’s development journey, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presenting a robust vision at the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting 2026.
The state recorded an impressive 7.9% growth in 2025–26 and secured the No. 1 rank in NITI Aayog’s Fiscal Health Index, underscoring its strong financial discipline.
Majhi highlighted transformative infrastructure projects, including Rs 10,928 crore for railway expansion, Rs 90,000 crore worth of ongoing industrial projects, and strategic initiatives under Sagarmala and PM Gati Shakti.
The proposed Bahuda Deep Sea Port and National Waterway‑5 are expected to reduce logistics costs, while two approved semiconductor projects under the India Semiconductor Mission position Odisha as a rising technology hub.
On the human development front, Odisha is pioneering early childhood care through the Ama Kuni Pila programme, AI‑powered personalised education, and milestone tracking via Mo Bikas Patra.
With 44,875 Sishu Vatika classrooms serving 3.17 lakh children, nutrition schemes like Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana, and cash incentives under Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, the state is investing heavily in its future generations.
Skill development remains a priority, with ten ITIs upgraded to Utkarsh ITIs, industry‑linked Centres of Excellence, and expansion of the World Skill Centre.
Odisha is also building 314 Block Level Stadiums to nurture grassroots sports talent.
Majhi reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to becoming a pillar of Viksit Bharat @2047, aligning industry‑academia linkages, human capital, and advanced technologies to drive inclusive growth.
