Odisha Rural Development Department Sets Ambitious Targets for 2026–27

Bhubaneswar, April 9: The Odisha Rural Development Department has set higher benchmarks for the upcoming financial year, aiming to accelerate rural connectivity and infrastructure growth.

At a review meeting chaired by Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, officials reported that 89.45% of allocated funds were utilised in 2025–26, placing Odisha 8th nationally under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The state also secured the top position for innovation and technology adoption in road construction.

Minister Naik directed officials to complete tender processes before the monsoon, expedite projects under “Mission Power” to connect unlinked villages, and prioritise both new road construction and the repair of existing routes.

Schemes such as the Chief Minister’s Road Plan were reviewed, with emphasis on equitable development across districts.

Senior officials, including Commissioner Yamini Sarangi and Chief Engineer Pradeep Kumar Jena, attended the meeting, which served as a platform for exchanging ideas on improved processes and innovative practices.
