Odisha CM’s Public Grievance Hearing on Oct 26 Postponed Amid Cyclone Alert

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has postponed the Chief Minister’s scheduled public grievance hearing on October 26 following forecasts of a potential cyclonic storm developing over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The grievance hearing, popularly known as Jan Abhiyog Shunani, was scheduled to be held at the old Government Primary School premises near Capital Nursery in Unit-2, Ashok Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

However, authorities decided to defer the programme as the weather system is expected to intensify around October 26 and could impact the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast.

The state government has assured citizens who had already registered online for the hearing that their registrations will remain valid. Applicants will not be required to register again for the rescheduled session.

Officials said a fresh date for the grievance hearing will be announced later through newspapers and other communication channels.

The Jan Abhiyog Shunani programme is one of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s key public outreach initiatives, enabling citizens to directly place their grievances before the government for swift resolution.

The temporary postponement reflects the administration’s focus on public safety as Odisha prepares for possible adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The government is closely monitoring the evolving cyclonic situation and has urged citizens to follow official advisories while necessary preparedness measures remain underway.
