Odisha Minister Calls for Fuel Conservation, Pushes EV Adoption

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena has urged citizens to reduce their reliance on petrol, diesel, and gas, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation.

Speaking on Tuesday, Jena emphasised the importance of adopting public transport, metro rail, and carpooling to cut down on fuel consumption.

He also suggested that work‑from‑home arrangements could further help in reducing dependency on conventional fuels.

Highlighting the state’s push toward sustainable mobility, the minister encouraged wider adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

Odisha has extended its EV subsidy scheme until 2028, aiming to make eco‑friendly transport more accessible.

Jena stressed that lowering fuel usage would not only conserve energy but also strengthen the national economy and safeguard foreign exchange reserves.

He called on citizens to collectively embrace these measures, underscoring that responsible fuel consumption is a shared duty for energy security and economic stability.
