Odisha Govt Assures Stable Fuel Supply, Cracks Down on Black Marketing

Bhubaneswar, April 28: Food Supply & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra has assured that Odisha’s fuel supply — LPG, petrol, and diesel — remains stable and sufficient, dismissing rumours of shortages or price hikes as “baseless gossip.”

Domestic LPG supply is reported to be completely normal, with households receiving cylinders on time.

The commercial sector is meeting nearly 80% of demand, ensuring hotels and restaurants face no disruption. Petrol and diesel stocks are described as more than adequate, with no shortage expected.

In a major crackdown, authorities seized over 7,000 illegal cylinders, marking one of the state’s largest drives against black marketing.

The Minister vowed strict action against violators and directed companies to expand 5 kg cylinder availability and accelerate the rollout of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in urban areas.

The review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan included officials from HPCL, IOCL, BPCL, Adani Group, and other distributors, with emphasis on consumer protection, supply stability, and proactive infrastructure expansion.
