Odisha Congress Marks 140th Foundation Day, Raises Alarm Over Constitutional Values

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Saturday commemorated the 140th Foundation Day of the Indian National Congress at Congress Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

The event, led by OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic values and constitutional principles.

Das hoisted the party flag in the presence of senior leaders and workers, recalling the immense sacrifices of Congress leaders and freedom fighters in securing India’s independence.

He warned that constitutional values are under threat and alleged deliberate attempts to erase Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy from public spaces.

“The Congress party will never tolerate any attempt to undermine the Constitution or the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress will continue to work relentlessly for the welfare of the people,” Das said.

On the occasion, party members pledged unity and called for strengthening the organisation at all levels to safeguard democratic institutions.

The programme was coordinated by Pradesh Congress Seva Dal President Shubendu Mohanty, Jyotish Kumar Sahu, and M.D. Sahadulla.

Several senior leaders, including Ramchandra Kadam, Srikant Jena, Panchanan Kanungo, Jagannath Patnaik, and Suresh Kumar Routray, attended the event.

The celebration served both as a tribute to the Congress’s historic legacy and a rallying cry to protect India’s democratic framework in the face of contemporary challenges.
