Odisha Charts Integrated Master Plan for Chilika, Kalijai Temple & Satapada
The Odisha government has unveiled an ambitious integrated master plan to transform Chilika Lake, Maa Kalijai Temple, and Satapada into a world‑class tourism destination while safeguarding the fragile ecosystem.
At a high‑level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, officials outlined proposals for holistic development of Maa Kalijai Temple, modern tourism infrastructure, and eco‑friendly interventions.
Key projects include upgraded road networks, modern jetties, parking facilities, bird‑viewing points, cycling tracks, roller skating zones, trekking routes, tree houses, water sports, boating facilities, open food courts, picnic areas, and public art installations showcasing Odisha’s cultural heritage.
The plan also reviewed connectivity through a proposed Greenfield Road linking Gopalpur and Bahuda to boost regional tourism.
Senior officials from OBCC, Tourism Department, Puri district administration, temple trust members, and engineers participated in the deliberations.
This integrated approach aims to balance ecological preservation with tourism growth, positioning Chilika and Kalijai Temple as iconic destinations in Odisha’s cultural and natural landscape.
