Odisha Begins Special Intensive Voter List Revision; Senior Deputy Election Commissioner to Review Progress

Bhubaneswar: Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti has arrived in Odisha on a two‑day visit to oversee the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.

On June 16, Bharti will chair a high‑level meeting in Bhubaneswar with District Collectors and Election Registration Officers to assess the progress of the campaign.

He is scheduled to visit Ganjam district on June 17 for a field review.

According to officials, 99.14% of enumeration forms have already been distributed, covering more than 3.31 crore voters across the state.

Of these, 42.86%—around 1.43 crore records—have been digitised.

The Election Commission has set June 28, 2026, as the deadline to complete distribution, collection, and digitisation.

The revision aims to remove names of deceased and shifted voters while ensuring a transparent and accurate electoral roll.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door‑to‑door verification, urging citizens to submit forms promptly.

Officials have warned that non‑compliance will trigger verification and possible corrective action.

Describing the campaign as being conducted on a “war‑footing,” authorities said the exercise is crucial for strengthening Odisha’s electoral preparedness.

Bharti’s visit is expected to accelerate momentum and ensure all districts meet the deadline.
