Odisha CM Felicitated in Puri for Safeguarding Jagannath Dham’s Identity
Puri witnessed a grand felicitation ceremony for Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Town Hall, where thousands of devotees, sevayats, saints, and leaders gathered to honour his decisive role in preserving the sanctity of Jagannath culture.
The celebration followed the Odisha government’s successful intervention in ensuring that the word “Dham” was removed from the Jagannath Temple in Digha, West Bengal.
Majhi emphasised that scriptures and tradition recognise only Puri as the one and only Jagannath Dham, pledging to protect rituals and heritage.
The resolution came after Puri MP Sambit Patra engaged with West Bengal CM Subhendu Adhikari, leading to the amicable withdrawal of the disputed term.
Majhi also highlighted recent initiatives, including opening all four temple gates, auditing the Ratna Bhandar, and launching the Sri Jagannath Darshan Yojana to provide free darshan and Mahaprasad to the poor and elderly.
Leaders and devotees expressed gratitude, hailing the move as a historic step in safeguarding Odia spiritual pride.
