New VC Charts Reform Path for Madhusudan Law University
Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, April 11: Prof. Sibaram Tripathy, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Madhusudan Law University, has announced a sweeping reform roadmap aimed at transforming legal education in Odisha.
Tripathy emphasised that the university must move beyond distributing degrees to producing market-ready graduates who can compete nationally.
His plan prioritises faculty recruitment, as the institution has been functioning without permanent teaching staff for nearly five years, relying solely on guest faculty since its upgrade in 2021.
Key initiatives include establishing a placement cell with industry linkages, introducing student exchange programmes with premier law schools such as Banaras Hindu University, and implementing a single-window clearance system to streamline student services.
The roadmap also envisions strict attendance norms, timely syllabus completion, and zero tolerance for exam malpractice.
To honour the legacy of Madhusudan Das, the university will set up a “Madhusudan Chair” and a Madhusudan Legal Forum with monthly lectures.
Tripathy further announced the revival of the Human Rights cell and legal aid cell, promoting a pro bono culture among students to serve marginalised communities.
Integration of Mission Karmayogi and Shaktishree Yojana will enhance institutional capacity and student support.
With these reforms, the university aims to secure a place in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and establish itself as a hub of excellence in legal education.
