Balangir Businessman Abduction: Police Arrest SI and Journalist, Probe Deepens

Balangir police have intensified investigations into the abduction of businessman Narendra Sahu, alias Gunda, who was kidnapped near NH‑57 on August 14 and rescued within 24 hours in Bhubaneswar.

Authorities have arrested four individuals so far, including Sub‑Inspector Sneha Manjari Sahu, sister of prime accused Kshitij Chandra Sahu, and journalist Sanjay Jena.

Police believe Sneha Manjari played a central role in orchestrating the crime. Earlier, Kshitij Chandra Sahu and associate Sanjit Behera were taken into custody.

Two suspects remain absconding, and investigators are probing contradictions between the statements of the accused and the rescued businessman.

Officials suspect the abduction was linked to disputes over illegal financial dealings, including “Hanuman money” transactions.

Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal has assured strict action against all involved, while Balangir SP Abhilash G confirmed that searches are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
