Odisha Emerging as India’s Premier Skilling Hub
Odisha is positioning itself as one of India’s leading centres for skill development, with reforms aimed at empowering youth and preparing them for global opportunities.
At the Kaushal Manthan conference in Kolkata, Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain outlined the state’s vision under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Swain emphasised that “skill development is the new currency,” highlighting Odisha’s initiatives to modernise Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), expand World Skill Centres, and establish industry-linked Centres of Excellence.
These reforms are designed to equip young people with future-ready skills and create pathways for international employment.
The conference, chaired by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, brought together representatives from Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat to strengthen India’s skill ecosystem.
Discussions focused on the PM SETU initiative, industry partnerships, and strategies to convert skills into tangible employment opportunities.
Odisha’s proactive approach positions it as a model state, reinforcing its role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
