Odisha Flood Relief: Minister Orders Swift Compensation for Affected Families
Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, has directed officials to conduct immediate damage assessments in Jharsuguda and Baragada districts following heavy rains and floods.
During his visit to the affected areas, Pujari interacted with residents and emphasised the need for rapid relief distribution without bureaucratic delays.
Special attention was given to fishermen whose nets and boats were destroyed, with the District Fishery Officer tasked with preparing a detailed report.
The Agriculture Department and Tahasildars were instructed to submit urgent reports on crop losses and housing damage. Road repairs were also prioritised to restore connectivity.
A high‑level review meeting at Jharsuguda Circuit House, attended by Baragada MP Pradeep Purohit, Bhatli MLA Irasish Acharya, district collectors, and departmental officials, focused on crop devastation, infrastructure damage, and the plight of fishermen.
The Minister reiterated that relief and compensation must reach families swiftly to ease their hardships.
