Nandini Satpathy statue unveiled in Kataka

A life-size statue of former Odisha Chief Minister Nandini Satpathy, the state’s first woman CM, was unveiled at Dayashram Park in Kataka (Ward No. 9, KMC).

The ceremony was led by Justice Bimal Prasad Das, former judge of the Orissa High Court, and presided over by KMC Mayor Subash Singh.

Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das attended as a special guest, while Barabati-Kataka MLA Sofia Firdous was the guest of honour.

Several former ministers, social workers, writers, lawyers, and civic officials joined the programme.

Speakers highlighted Satpathy’s pioneering role in Odisha’s political and social life, her leadership in advancing women’s participation, and her contribution to Kataka’s development.

The statue is seen as a tribute to her enduring legacy and an inspiration for future generations.

Sculptor Laxmidhar Rana, who created the statue, and painter Rabinarayan Rath were felicitated during the event.
