ECoR Flags Off Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Drive
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag: Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”.
General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal administered the Swachhata Pledge to officers and staff, urging collective responsibility for cleanliness across stations, trains, offices, workshops, hospitals, and colonies.
Running from September 17 to October 2, the campaign emphasises five pillars: transformation of target units, youth engagement through Swachh Paathshala, safety and dignity for sanitation workers, public participation, and linking cleanliness to prosperity.
Activities include clean station drives, toilet and drain cleaning, colony sanitation, solid waste management awareness, segregation, composting, anti‑plastic initiatives, and legacy waste clearance.
Health check‑ups and welfare measures for Safai Mitras are also planned.
Special events feature mass Shramdaan on October 1 under “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” and Swachh Bharat Diwas on October 2 with pledges, rallies, street plays, and tree plantation under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”
ECoR has urged railway staff to dedicate 100 hours annually to cleanliness, aiming to foster behavioural change and sustained community participation for a cleaner railway environment.
