Odisha State Pollution Control Board Marks 43rd Foundation Day with New Initiatives
The Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day at Krushi Siksha Sadan, OUAT, Bhubaneswar.
Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia graced the occasion as chief guest, highlighting the Board’s four decades of work in air quality monitoring, water testing, industrial effluent oversight, and waste management.
The event witnessed the launch of several initiatives, including foundation stones for new regional offices in Kataka, Koraput, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, a drone‑based monitoring system, and an AI chatbot to enhance environmental governance.
Four publications were released: a journal on microplastics and nanoplastics, a compendium of best practices, a comic book on water pollution, and a handbook on solid waste management.
An MoU was signed with NALCO Research and Technology Centre to strengthen fly ash management.
The Board also presented Environment Appreciation Certificates to industries, mining companies, and healthcare institutions, along with an Environment Excellence Award for the best-performing industrial township.
Senior officials including Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Dr K. Murugesan, Dr Manoj V. Nair, and OUAT Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Prabhat Kumar Roul attended the ceremony, underscoring the collective commitment to sustainable development in Odisha.
