Mantra Muugdha Casts a Spell: Odia Cinema’s Bold Leap with Grand Release

Bhubaneswar: Odia cinema witnessed a landmark moment with the release of Mantra Muugdha, directed by National Award‑winner Anupam Patnaik and produced by Amiya Patnaik Productions.

The film opened simultaneously in 29 cities across Odisha and extended its reach to major metros, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.

Shot extensively at the historic Dharakote Palace, the film blends horror, comedy, mystery, and fantasy in a narrative that follows three friends who awaken a dark force in an abandoned palace.

The palace’s eerie architecture plays a central role in building suspense and intrigue.

The ensemble cast features Sanoj Kumar, Manmay Dey, Sarthak Bharadwaj, Dipanwit Dasmohapatra, Suryamayee Mohapatra, and Bhoomika Dash.

The story was developed by Anupam Patnaik and Roshan Bisoi, with writing contributions from Rohit Gehlot, Pranab Rath, and Nishant Majithia.

Audience response has been overwhelming, with the first show at Maharaja Hall in Bhubaneswar running housefull at 9:30 AM. Long queues and enthusiastic turnout highlight the film’s strong reception.
