Dhanush-Mammootty’s OM Chapter 1 Will Deliver a Complete Story, Says Director
Fans eagerly awaiting OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood can expect a complete cinematic experience rather than the beginning of an unfinished franchise.
Director Rajkumar Periasamy has clarified that despite its title, the film is not designed as a serialised narrative and will tell a full story within a single instalment.
Starring Dhanush and Mammootty in lead roles, the highly anticipated action drama is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 20, 2026.
The filmmaker addressed concerns surrounding the “Chapter 1” title, emphasising that audiences should not expect a cliffhanger or an incomplete narrative at the end of the film.
According to Periasamy, the story revolves around multiple characters connected by a common purpose while exploring emotional journeys and interpersonal relationships.
He described the project as an emotional action drama rather than a traditional gangster film.
The director also revealed that Mammootty’s character draws inspiration from migrant American figures seen in the works of acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
This unique characterisation is expected to add depth to the narrative.
Joining the star-studded cast are Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela, both reportedly playing unconventional roles.
The film’s music has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
The film was initially slated for release on October 16, 2026, but was later postponed to November 20 to avoid clashes with other major releases during the festive season.
Apart from this project, Dhanush is also working on several upcoming ventures, including collaborations with filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and director Vetrimaaran.
With two powerhouse performers leading the cast and the director promising a complete narrative experience, OM Chapter 1 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of 2026.
