CM Mohan Majhi Assures Full Support for Ganjam’s Flood Recovery After Cyclone Arnab
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured full government support for relief and restoration efforts in flood-ravaged Ganjam district, which suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides triggered by Cyclone Arnab.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, along with MLAs from Ganjam district, to assess the impact of the disaster and discuss recovery measures.
During the meeting, public representatives briefed the Chief Minister on the widespread damage to agriculture, residential properties, public infrastructure, and essential services across the district.
Responding to the concerns, Majhi said the state government is fully aware of the situation and is committed to ensuring that affected residents receive all necessary assistance.
He emphasised that the people of Ganjam would not be left alone in facing the crisis and reaffirmed the government’s determination to restore normalcy at the earliest.
The Chief Minister also informed that the extent of damage in Ganjam had been discussed in detail with a visiting Central assessment team.
The district’s losses and recovery requirements have been highlighted to ensure adequate support for rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
To expedite recovery, Majhi directed the Revenue Department to accelerate the distribution of relief assistance and implement immediate measures for repairing damaged roads, public utilities, and other critical infrastructure.
Ganjam emerged as one of the worst-affected districts following Cyclone Arnab, with severe flooding, disruption of communication and transport networks, and significant losses to agriculture and livelihoods.
The state government has already initiated relief operations and pledged continued support until normal conditions are restored.
