Kendrapara Man Tied and Beaten at In‑Laws’ Home, Hospitalized After Consuming Poisonous Seeds

Kendrapara: A disturbing incident unfolded in Alaile village when Sudarshan Sethi was allegedly tied up and beaten at his in‑laws’ residence.

Married to Purnima Sethi three years ago, Sudarshan’s relationship had been strained, with disputes surfacing within a year of marriage.

Four days prior to the incident, Purnima returned to her parental home following another quarrel.

On Monday, Sudarshan visited her, accompanied by two youths.

Family members alleged he was intoxicated and created chaos, prompting his in‑laws and neighbours to restrain him with ropes and assault him.

Later, it was discovered that Sudarshan had consumed poisonous seeds along with alcohol.

He was rushed to Pattamundai Hospital and subsequently shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

Following the assault, Sudarshan’s sister lodged a complaint at Pattamundai police station. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

The incident has sparked concern in Kendrapara about escalating domestic disputes and their violent consequences.
