Domestic Help Found Dead at Odisha Minister’s Residence, Probe Underway

Bhubaneswar: A domestic help was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the official residence of Odisha minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Thursday morning, triggering shock and concern.

The deceased, identified as Shankarshan Nag (46) from Belpahad in Balangir district, was discovered unconscious on the floor around 9 am by staff members.

He was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Statements from family members and employees at the minister’s residence have been recorded as part of the investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest electrocution as a possible cause, though officials emphasised that the exact reason will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report.

The incident has raised questions about safety measures inside ministerial residences, with authorities under pressure to ensure accountability.
