CM Majhi Urges Holistic Women’s Empowerment in Odisha Assembly
Bhubaneswar, April 30: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised that women’s empowerment must go beyond financial assistance during the Odisha Assembly’s one‑day Special Session on “Women’s Contribution in Indian Democracy.” He urged that true empowerment lies in enabling women to make independent decisions in social, economic, and political spheres.
Majhi highlighted national achievements under the Modi government, including the appointment of President Droupadi Murmu, and shared statistics showing women’s growing participation in STEM, entrepreneurship, and housing schemes.
He assured that the Women’s Reservation Bill (Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam) guaranteeing 33% reservation in Lok Sabha and Assemblies will be implemented from the 2029 General Elections.
For Odisha, Majhi outlined initiatives such as the Subhadra Yojana to create “Lakhpati Didis,” the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana supporting poor families, and grassroots Nari Adalats for localised justice.
He concluded with a vision of a “Prosperous Odisha” where village women actively engage in modern agriculture and digital banking.
