Kandhamal Launches ‘Zero Teenage Pregnancy’ Drive After 300+ Minor Pregnancies in 3 Years
Kandhamal district has reported over 300 cases of minor pregnancies in the past three years, sparking concern among health and education officials.
In response, the district administration has rolled out the “Zero Teenage Pregnancy” program, aimed at curbing teenage motherhood through awareness and monitoring.
Training sessions have been conducted in Phulbani, where CRCCs, WEOs, and Anganwadi supervisors were briefed on their roles as campaign leaders.
The initiative emphasises spreading awareness in schools about the health, educational, and social impacts of teenage pregnancy.
A district-level task force has been formed to monitor progress and ensure accountability.
Officials believe that consistent awareness drives, community involvement, and school-level interventions will help reduce teenage pregnancies and safeguard the future of young girls in Kandhamal.
