Rath Yatra 2026 in Puri: Dharmendra Pradhan’s Darshan, Rain as ‘Pushpa Varsha’
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan joined thousands of devotees in witnessing the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri.
Calling it a divine blessing, Pradhan described the rainfall during the procession as “pushpa varsha” — a shower of flowers from Lord Indra.
The grand Pahandi ritual saw Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra ceremonially brought to their chariots amid chants and devotion.
Chief Priest Jagannath Swain Das Mahapatra emphasised that the Rath Yatra is the most auspicious day, when the Lord grants darshan to all devotees, transcending barriers of caste and religion.
Devotees expressed joy at the smooth management and security arrangements, noting that the rain made the experience more pleasant than the summer heat.
Many shared their happiness at finally being able to attend after years of waiting.
National leaders also extended greetings.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan hailed the festival as a celebration of India’s civilisational ethos and a spiritual union between devotees and the Lord.
