Felt Like Miracle’: Artistes Perform Amid Rainfall During Rath Yatra in Puri
Despite heavy showers, artistes performing before the Rath Yatra procession in Puri described the experience as nothing short of a miracle.
Dancers from various cultural troupes said the rainfall felt like a divine blessing, symbolising the purification of the earth to welcome Lord Jagannath.
Performers expressed deep devotion, noting that when the Lord’s crown sways, it feels as if Mahaprabhu himself is dancing.
Many called it a rare fortune to have darshan once a year when the Lord comes out among devotees.
A dance teacher from Lingaraj Kala Niketan emphasised that performing during Rath Yatra is both a tradition and a service to Lord Jagannath.
Temple sevayat Sarat Mohanty added that rituals were completed unusually quickly this year, suggesting it was the Lord’s wish to appear early before lakhs of devotees.
For the artistes, dancing in the rain was a unique, unforgettable experience—one they believe will remain etched in memory as a divine miracle.
