Sudarsan Pattnaik Crafts 100 Sand Chariots for Rath Yatra

Padma Shri awardee and internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has once again mesmerised devotees and visitors with a breathtaking creation on Puri Beach.

To mark the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, Pattnaik sculpted a grand sand art of Lord Jagannath, flanked by 100 miniature sand chariots, symbolising the divine procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

The installation, located just a few kilometres from the Jagannath Temple, transformed the coastline into a vibrant festival gallery.

With the rhythmic waves of the Bay of Bengal as a backdrop, the artwork captured both devotion and artistry.

Sharing his creation on social media, Pattnaik wrote: “Jai Jagannath! On the auspicious occasion of RathYatra, I created a sand sculpture of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath with a hundred chariots at Puri Beach, Odisha.

May the divine blessings of the Lord bring peace, joy, and prosperity to all.”

Pattnaik, known globally for his sand art on cultural and social themes, has made Rath Yatra sculptures a signature part of the festival.

His work continues to blend tradition with contemporary visual storytelling, drawing lakhs of devotees and tourists to Puri during the annual celebration.
