Conjoined Twin Baby Passes Away at MKCG Hospital in Odisha

Brahmapur: A rare conjoined twin baby born at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur has passed away despite receiving intensive medical care from a team of specialists.

The tragic incident has drawn widespread attention across Odisha due to the extremely rare nature of the birth.

The baby boy was born to a woman from Kandhamal district and was later admitted to the hospital’s Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for close monitoring and treatment.

Medical experts confirmed that the infant was a rare case of conjoined twins with two heads attached to a single torso.

Following the birth, a specialised team of paediatricians and healthcare professionals closely monitored the child’s condition.

Despite continuous medical attention and efforts to stabilise the newborn, the baby’s health deteriorated. He succumbed on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Doctors had reportedly planned further evaluation by senior pediatric surgery specialists to assess possible advanced medical interventions.

However, the infant could not survive due to complications associated with the rare congenital condition.

The case generated significant interest among both medical professionals and the general public because of its rarity.

Further details regarding the medical condition and treatment are awaited from hospital authorities.
