Odisha Braces for Five Days of Rainfall as Cyclonic Circulation Intensifies
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Odisha for the next five days due to a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
An Orange Alert has been issued for Mayurbhanj district, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The remaining 29 districts are under a Yellow Alert, with moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning expected.
Authorities have urged residents in low‑lying and vulnerable areas to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours.
Gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in isolated regions.
Another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 12, which may intensify rainfall in northern and coastal Odisha.
With multiple active weather systems in play, Odisha is set to remain under rain‑bearing conditions through the coming week.
