Barbil Police Crush Inter-State Criminal Network: Mastermind of 4.5 Lakh and 6.4 Kg Gold Heist Arrested

Barbil —In a major breakthrough, Barbil Police have successfully apprehended the dreaded inter-state criminal Sipu Kumar (45), a resident of Pipra, Patna district, Bihar. Kumar, long considered a menace across Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand, was the prime accused in the sensational Bank of Maharashtra robbery in Barbil (Case No. 29/26), where 6.5 kilograms of gold and 4.5 lakh were looted.

During a follow-up operation early in the morning, police escorted the accused to Tankura village in Barbil’s forest region based on his disclosures. In a desperate bid to escape, Kumar opened fire on the police team.

Demonstrating remarkable courage and restraint, the officers retaliated in self-defence.

The controlled encounter left the accused injured, and he was immediately rushed to CHC Barbil for medical treatment.

A country-made firearm was recovered from his possession.

Authorities confirmed that Kumar has a long criminal history, with multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, extortion, and loot registered against him across three states.

Barbil Police’s swift and professional action not only neutralised a dangerous criminal but also eliminated a looming threat to public safety.

The encounter stands as a testament to the force’s vigilance, bravery, and unwavering commitment to justice.
