Vigilance Nabs Ex‑Junior Assistant in ₹37.32 Lakh Fraud
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Debadyuti Nanda, a former Junior Assistant at the Block Education Officer’s office in Baliapal, for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to Rs 37.32 lakh.
Investigators revealed that between 2022 and 2026, Nanda prepared forged arrear pay bills and inserted them into genuine arrear DA bills of other employees.
Exploiting his role as bill clerk‑cum‑accountant, he diverted the money into his personal account.
At the time of arrest, Nanda was serving at Padmalochan Government High School, Jagai, Baliapal.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (467, 468, 471, 477‑A).
Officials emphasised that the arrest reflects Odisha Vigilance’s continued drive against financial irregularities in government offices, reinforcing its commitment to digital transparency and accountability.
