Majhi Calls Delhi Mahanadi Meet “Highly Significant”
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has termed the Delhi meeting on the Mahanadi water dispute as “highly significant,” expressing confidence that a resolution will be reached within three months.
The meeting, chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, was attended by Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai and held in a cordial, constructive atmosphere.
Both states emphasised finding a mutually acceptable solution to the long‑standing inter‑state water dispute.
Odisha’s stance prioritises farmers’ welfare, people’s rights, and environmental protection.
A technical committee under the Central Water Commission Chairman will submit its report to the Mahanadi Tribunal within three months. Majhi expressed optimism that by Diwali, a positive outcome will emerge.
During his Delhi visit, Majhi also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, NITI Aayog officials, and PM’s Economic Advisory Council member Prof. K.V. Raju to discuss Odisha’s development priorities.
