Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda Appointed OERC Member
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has appointed Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda as a Member of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).
The Energy Department issued the notification under Sub‑section (5) of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003, confirming that his appointment will take effect from the date he assumes office.
The OERC plays a crucial role in regulating electricity tariffs, safeguarding consumer interests, and overseeing distribution companies across the state.
Officials noted that Barpanda’s inclusion will strengthen transparency, efficiency, and governance in Odisha’s power sector.
The Energy Department emphasised that the appointment ensures continuity in the Commission’s functioning and reflects the government’s commitment to effective electricity regulation and consumer welfare.
