Speaker Surama Padhy Calls All‑Party Meet Ahead of Monsoon Session
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy has convened an all‑party meeting on Monday, September 21, ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Assembly.
The meeting is aimed at fostering cooperation among ruling and opposition members to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, the Opposition chief whip, Congress Legislature Party leader, and party whips are expected to attend.
The Monsoon Session will begin on September 22 and continue until October 3.
Most days have been reserved for government business, while Friday, September 25, will be dedicated to Private Members’ Business, including Bills and Resolutions.
The Speaker’s initiative is seen as a step toward consensus‑building and effective legislative functioning during the upcoming session.
