Six‑Foot Crocodile Rescued From Farmland Net in Kendrapada
Kendrapada, Odisha: Panic gripped Brahmanikholha village in Rajnagar block after a six‑foot saltwater crocodile was found trapped in a fishing net laid in farmland.
The reptile was discovered by local villager Bhagabat Swain, who had set the net to catch fish.
On spotting the crocodile, Swain immediately alerted fellow residents and informed the Forest Department.
A rescue team soon arrived and safely freed the crocodile, preventing harm to both the animal and villagers.
The incident highlights the growing human‑wildlife interactions in Kendrapada, an area close to Bhitarkanika National Park, known for its saltwater crocodile population.
Forest officials urged villagers to remain cautious and report such sightings promptly to avoid accidents.
