Odisha CM Majhi Conducts Aerial Survey of Flood‑Hit Districts
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of flood‑affected areas across five districts, covering more than 12 blocks.
He was accompanied by Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and the Special Relief Commissioner.
According to official reports, nearly 8 lakh people have been impacted by the floods, with 2.69 lakh evacuated to safer locations.
Relief camps have been set up to provide shelter, food, drinking water, and medical care.
The Chief Minister emphasised a “Zero Casualty” approach, directing immediate repair of damaged roads and vigilance against post‑flood health risks.
Damage assessment reports are to be submitted within three days after water recedes, following which relief packages for agriculture and housing losses will be rolled out.
To strengthen rescue and relief operations, 17 ODRAF units, 7 NDRF teams, and 129 Fire Services squads are actively engaged.
The government has sanctioned Rs 26 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support ongoing efforts.
Majhi assured that water levels are expected to recede within two days, and the situation is gradually improving, with senior officials monitoring ground‑level restoration.
