Sambalpur Football Academy to Get FIFA‑Standard Upgrade, ₹15 Crore Investment Announced
Sambalpur, Odisha – Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled a Rs 15 crore plan to transform the Sambalpur Football Academy into a world-class training hub.
The project will feature three FIFA‑standard full‑size pitches and two advanced futsal grounds, marking a major leap for grassroots football in the state.
Beginning this year, 30 boys and girls under 14, selected through the annual CM Cup, will receive free residential training and education at the academy.
Established in 2007 under Samaleswari Sporting Club, the academy has already produced hundreds of players who have represented Odisha at national levels.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister emphasised that the initiative is about “building dreams” and nurturing future national and international football stars.
The announcement was attended by senior political leaders and officials, underscoring the government’s commitment to sports development.
This upgrade positions Odisha as a rising hub for football talent, combining world‑class infrastructure with structured youth development.
