Odisha Charts AgriPV Path for Farmers and Clean Energy

Bhubaneswar, June 6: Odisha has taken a decisive step toward sustainable energy and rural prosperity with the launch of its AgriPV roadmap under Viksit Odisha 2036.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo inaugurated the initiative, highlighting its dual focus on boosting farmer incomes and accelerating clean energy adoption.

The event saw the release of the Empowering Farmers through AgriPV report by GRIDCO Ltd. and Vasudha Foundation, alongside the unveiling of the Odisha State Energy Action Plan (OSEAP) web platform for long‑term energy planning.

Two wind resource assessment masts were installed at Sonapur and Gopalpur in Ganjam district, while GRIDCO signed purchase agreements for a 125 MW / 500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) across six substations.

Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), emphasised a holistic approach combining renewables, storage, and data‑driven planning.

GRIDCO MD Dr Satyapriya Rath noted that AgriPV with storage would drive inclusive rural growth and resilience.

A technical workshop followed, focusing on policy, financing, and implementation strategies to scale AgriPV.

Odisha’s leadership in disaster resilience and sustainable energy was showcased as part of its broader climate‑resilient development vision.
