Odisha Vigilance Busts Bribery in Land Conversion Case

Odisha Vigilance officials caught two revenue officers red‑handed in Puri district while accepting a bribe of ₹35,000.

The accused, Revenue Inspector Kalyani Jena and Assistant Revenue Inspector Purna Chandra Behera, were posted at Siula RI Circle under Pipili Tahasil.

The bribe was allegedly demanded to process a land conversion request from agricultural to homestead land, despite the applicant meeting statutory requirements.

Acting on a complaint, Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division laid a trap and seized the tainted money during the operation.

Searches were conducted at three locations linked to the accused in Puri and Bhubaneswar.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation into disproportionate assets is underway.
